Forgotten moment from Mother's Day

I forgot to put this story in when I did my post for Mother's Day.  My parents were here for the weekend and came to church with with us.  We got out of the sunday school class we teach so when we finally made it into the chapel my dad was there waiting for us and he had Emma.  Shortly after my mom came in with Samantha and Khloe.  We all sat together for Sacrament meeting.  As the meeting was starting I looked at the ward bulletin and saw that the Primary Children would be singing.  I talked to Emma about it since it was the first time she would be leaving us to go up front with the other kids to sing.  She did not look excited.  When the time came she hesitated but did go up.  I was so proud of her!  What I wasn't prepared for was my reaction to it all.  Emma got up there and actually sang.  She didn't know every word but she kept going.  She did so well!  I burst into tears.  The combination of how well she was doing and having a child of my own up there singing to ME was overwhelming.  I have waited a long time to have one of those cute little primary kids sing directly to me.  When Emma came back to us after singing she saw that I was crying.  She looked worried.  She rushed to me and gave me a big hug to make me feel better.  I love being a mother!

Family Pictures 2011

A few weeks ago I finally got around to scheduling family pictures.  Last week we went in and got them done!  They turned out well (I think so anyway).  The photographer had a little Elmo that she used to get the girls to smile.  It worked half of the time.  Well it worked all the time but usually it cause the girls the throw their heads back and laugh.  Nice as that was I wanted pictures of their faces not under their chins.  What we ended up with was great despite it all.   Take a look!

So the best part is that I have had a few blank frames on my walls for almost a year.  I couldn't decide what to do with them.  The problem has been solved!  I put the picture of the three girls in one frame and the one above in another.  I have four small frames for the great-grands that I still need to fill.  Only one of them do I know how to do with out any controversy.  It is the one for my Grandma and Grandpa Richens.  I am a bit torn on the one for my Perkins side.  If only I had a picture of Grandpa Perkins with an arm around Grandma Mary (my dad's mom) and the other arm around Grandma Lorrie (the one who finished raising my dad).   Since that isn't possible how do I solve this problem?  Les' side has been equally hard.  Each of his grandmothers have been married 3 times.  Same problem here as with my own grandparents.  Les thought it would be nice to have pictures of his grandmothers with the husbands that are actually blood relatives.  This presents a problem because I do not have pictures of this. Between Les and I we think we may have it figured out.  We will put his Grandma Harmston in one and his Grandma Cheney in the other without worrying about their husbands.  That leaves just my Perkins side to finish up the wall.

Early Birthday Present!

I know my birthday isn't for another month (just under) but my loving husband felt that I had suffered enough.  So he allowed me to get my birthday present early.  I am so grateful!

New shoes!  So here is the story about the shoes.  My previous pair of shoes I have been wearing for the last 5 or so years.  This winter the sole of one shoe cracked open.  It didn't bother me too much because I have nice boots that I wear in the snow.  But as the weather warmed up the boots were too warm to wear.  If you haven't heard the news we are flooding in Logan.  There is water everywhere!  I have had many occurances where my one sock would be soaked through after a few minutes outside.  I started looking for shoes in late March/early April.  I was looking for a specific style.  I found some but I didn't want to pay $75 for them.  I could not find them anywhere else.  Enter Les - he took pitty on me and my one wet foot.  He took the product number off my old shoes and did an internet seach.  He found shoes similar to what I previously had and what I was looking for.  He ordered them and they arrived on our front porch in 2 days.  I now have nice dry feet because my wonderful husband found me shoes that I like for a much cheaper price.   I love him and I love these shoes (they are sketchers!)

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there.  As a mom myself I want you to know that with all the work that goes into being a mom that I think you rock! 

  

I was able to have my mother here with me this weekend.  I love her so much.  She has taught me so much about life and motherhood.  She is the best mom in the whole word.

Les gave me a rose for Mother's Day.  The best part is that the rose won't die.  I just have to wait until we get our own home so I can plant it.  Hopefully it won't die before we get a place to plant it.

Les also dipped strawberries in chocolate for dessert.  They were so good!  It has been quite the Mother's Day!

Les graduated!

What a week this has been!  It was Les' final race to the finish line.  He had three finals.  Two of them were tests and one was a presentation.  The best part was that no matter how bad he did on the tests he would still graduate.  On Tuesday evening was the Order of the Engineer ceremony.  See pictures below.

 On Thursday morning the college fed the seniors breakfast and then that night they did senior celebration where they played games to give away prizes.  Saturday morning dawned bright and promising.  This is where we ended up.

 Or at least for a little while.  That is Old Main which was the original building that all classes at USU were held in.  It is a beautiful building with a rich history.  This picture of it was taken Saturday morning.  We started our day in front of it for pictures.

 Quite a few people came to watch us take pictures and then came to the ceremony.  We are grateful for the support of our friends and family.  Les' Aunt and Uncle, their daughter Sydnie, and grandchildren Tavia, Shalae, and Kayden (infant) came from Les' side of the family.  My parents, brother David, brother Daniel, sister-in-law Jana, nephew Tyler, niece Kailey came from my side.  Our friends that came were Jeff and his twin girls, Ben and Ginger with their two boys. Here are some of the people who came with us.

Afterward we headed to our house and had a BBQ in the backyard.  All the food was so good.  And the company was even better.  Les wanted me to make a cake for his graduation in the shape of a urinal with the words, "The last 4 years of my life about to be flushed down the toilet!"  I didn't want to do that but I did give a little consession.  I made cupcakes and decorated his with white chocolateto make it look like a toilet.  Tell me what you think!
