So, officially she turned 18 months on Tuesday but she had her doctor appointment today. I have been a little nervous about this visit. Last time we were in she was still declining in the weight percentage. We were given "orders" to increase her calorie intake. Emma doesn't like the taste of whole milk so we bought strawberry flavoring for her. We also have been giving her cheese slices for at least one meal a day. Of course, we also gave her fruits to even out her diapers. At her WIC appointment on Monday they weighted her and she was 20 lbs 9 oz. However, at the doctor's office today they said she was only 19 lbs 12 oz. I was more excited for the 20 lbs. The best news the doctor is pleased that her weight is going up again. That is good news. Now I know I am doing things right.
For good reasons Emma doesn't like going to the doctor. The one big reason she dislikes it is because of the shots. Today she got two. One in each thigh. She screamed until we got her pants back on. Then the nurse gave her a sucker. That was all she needed to calm down. That was so unlike her WIC appointment. There they pricked her toe to hemocrit level. We put her sock and shoe over it. For the rest of the appointment she screamed and tried to get to the bandaid. When we got to the car we took her sock and shoe back off. She quickly removed the bandaid and suddenly all was right again in the world.
The best part to it all . . . Les took us for an ice cream cone. Yum! Thanks honey!
